VAHS Football Pre-Mini Camp Update

Hello Wildcat Families!

We are all excited as we approach camp week! I just want to send a message to clarify a few things as we get ready to officially start the season on August 5th.

  1. Mini-Camp runs Sunday, July 20 – Wednesday, July 23 from 5-9pm and is for ALL FRESHMEN-SENIORS (no signup required but registering for football early is a good idea)
    1. Must be a VAHS student this fall.
    2. Equipment handout for anyone who has not received theirs is at 4:15pm on Sunday, July 20.
      1. That includes Frosh-Seniors
    3. Meals will be served after each day thanks to our booster club!
    4. Bring helmets, practice jerseys, and shoulder pads every day (girdles optional).
    5. Please bring water bottles and tennis shoes just in case of inclement weather
    6. Athletic Physicals and Football Registration are not due until our first practice on Tuesday, August 5th at 4pm
      1. That being said, it’s great if you could do so before then.
    7. Gold Cards (Our big fundraiser!) will be handed out on Sunday night in order to give the players more time to sell before we start in August. Items have gotten more expensive for me to purchase (shirts, shorts, food) but I’ve kept the Booster Club fees the same. We need to push hard on this fundraiser and have a goal of $500 per athlete.
      1. Players will be placed on "teams" with a Coach in charge of each team.
      2. Teams will consist of position groups.
      3. Each player is responsible for selling $500 worth of physical cards (20 cards at $25 each) and for getting donations or selling items via the Money Dolly app. Do not enter physical card money into the app! Physical cards must be paid via cash or check to VAHS Football.
      4. Top seller receives $100, 2nd place $50, and 3rd place $25.
  2. VAHS Youth Football Camp runs Monday, July 21 – Thursday, July 24 from 7:30am-11:30am at VAHS
    1. All freshmen-seniors are expected to attend and coach the youth football camp participants in a positive and encouraging manner.
    2. Players should arrive at the VAHS Football Plaza no later than 7:30am in appropriate Wildcat clothing.
    3. I know players like to bring donuts or a snack on some days. Please wait until Wednesday or Thursday to do so and please be aware of allergies.
    4. Players will be told their coaching groups on Sunday night of Mini-Camp
  3. Our volunteer date for working with Logan’s Heart and Smiles is TBD!
  4. The first official day of football season is August 5!
